Globe originated as a company designing and manufacturing machinery for the plywood and door industries. As the composite wood panel industry developed in the 1960s and 1970s, Globe produced machinery for early particleboard, MDF and waferboard plants. As these industries have matured, so has Globe’s involvement. We are now industry leaders for finishing line equipment in North America for all types of wood based panels.
The future lies in providing leadership and following industry trends. Our recent involvement in the North American OSB expansion has helped to dramatically develop the company in terms of size and technical capability. Our future goals are to build on that success through leadership involvement in areas as wood I-joists, molded door skins, fiber cement, strawboard and LVL. Our activities are also significantly increasing overseas with recent major installations in Europe and projects in Asia. Globe’s success is enhanced in our partnership with sister companies, Globe International and Burelbach Industries. The three companies share design, sales and production resources to complement each other’s efforts. Globe International produces material handling equipment for a wide variety of clientele both inside and outside the forest products industry, while Burelbach designs and manufactures panel handling equipment that directly complements the Globe range. Although, principally known for panel saw lines and panel handling equipment, Globe is essentially a panel system supplier. Many of our standard machines are customized to suit customer's particular preferences. We frequently produce new systems solutions to solve a particular problem. This is reflected in our design capabilities. More than 15% of our staff are directly involved on a full-time basis on machine development and design. Our program is therefore not limited to the products outlined here. |
